Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I was laid up for 8 weeks many years ago from spinal fusion surgery. Had 3 vertebra fused together, required to wear a hard collar, and was limited to a recliner or bed the whole time. I had my wife set some plastic cups and coffee cans around the room so I could work on casting accuracy. She cut the hooks off some jigs so I wouldn't snag anything. I was good practice, but it got to be more fun when the cats started chasing the hookless jigs around. Gave us both something to enjoy and hone our predatory skills on.

Thanks for teh suggestions. I've read both those books, years ago. Been watching Gene the fishing machine videos. Entertaining....

I tried lure making a couple years ago. it was okay. However, I'm a minnow fisherman. I'll tie up some more double rig sets for spider rigging. Although, it supposed to snow tomorrow, I may sit around and watch it for a couple hours while I tie jigs. I just need to get my wife to pull all the tackle out of the boat. Wait, scratch that. She doesn't need to see the collection. lol
Today was pretty much spent sleeping. The pain meds put me to sleep.
I did find a youtube series from about 9 years ago about locating crappie. I might watch that tonight while the wife sleeps.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!

Back in 2012 I was trout fishing below Normandy Dam….stepped down a rock, knee collapsed and I passed out from pain. Knee was gone and I needed a new one as the doctor said. My stupidity kicked in and I scheduled the surgery 6 weeks out telling myself it would get better and all would be OK. Well of course it got no better and all I could do was use a walker to navigate back and forth to the bed and bathroom. My wife…..who was my fiancé at the time…..bought me a bird feeder and placed it so I could see it out my front window from my recliner that I was basically living in. At first I thought what a silly gift…..knowing that was not for me. Of course I had TV and a computer but very quickly became a bird watching nut. I spent the whole 6 weeks watching birds feeding. I found it to be very relaxing. Over the past 10 years I’ve had another knee replacement….a hip replacement. Watching those birds feed was a big part of my recovery. Since then I keep many feeders out…..where I can see them from living….dining…bedrooms and office. Hope you find something to keep you entertained….one just never knows what that might be.

    Regards

You sttated you are "Bored. Restricted to recliner, looking for things to do. Whatcha got?"

My answer is to PUSH your way out of the recliner.

    P.U.S.H

You have to push your way through adversity. P.U.S.H. just means Pray Until Something Happens. If nothing else just start telling your wife about all the stories you have in your head about fishing or about how much you appreciate her being by your side. When you finish watching You Tube fishing videos you can try your hand at playing a simple tune on the harmonica or something inexpensive. Think of ways you can fish smarter and start making things you want to fish with. Finally, look at videos of the new trucks you would like to own one day and just dream, and picture yourself driving it.

Praying you soon will be up and about feeling better.

May God be with you. Keep CALM and STAY ANCHORED with your faith.

You could plan you a trip for when your healed.

Pick the destination. Then research where your gonna stay. Where your gonna launch. Where your going to eat. What's special about the area. What do I want to do there besides fish.....Then spend some time researching the water on navionics web app. Looking at contours and stuff like that.

Definitely what I do when I'm bored or need cheering up.

I was going to suggest that you make different lure shapes by fusing the body and tail from two different soft plastics after melting the ends with a candle flame. But then I remembered you saying you're a minnow fisherman. While watching TV I make hybrid lures. Organizing tackle is a challenge but little by little I'll get done.

If your weather is anything like N.Y.'s, it's gotten bitter cold and pretty much everyone is in the same boat staying warm. Yesterday I had the bright idea to go on-line to different supermarket sites, search for products I use and do some compitive shopping to see who sells certain products cheaper - especially those on sale. I made up a spread sheet with three ciolumns for the three stores I shop at and was amazed how much I could save knowing what to buy and where.

You might want to use a Roku streaming stick that connects to your TV. There are a vast number movies to watch via Netflix, TUBI tv, Amazon Prime, Spectrum, Acorn etc. Some are subscription only, other no charge except they have commercials. I've made a spreadsheet of over 800 movies I've watched and rated - some worth rewatching in a year or two. Regular TV is a waste and not worth the time it takes to change channels.

Get well and keep mentally active. The human brain is there for a reason and needs as much exercise as the body to stay fit and focused.
