Default Best spoons or lure for jigging for crappie

Is there a preferred spoon or bait to jig for crappie? What weight and line works best. I was able to jig one in a big lay down tree Wednesday. I was using a tube with a 1/32 head but it was hard to follow down. Seemed l needed a little more weight. I was using 10 lb. braid. Thanks, Don

If I could use them in open water, I'd use Hopkins Spoons or a blade bait (like Cicada or Silver Buddy). If there's any wood or other snaggy obstructions, I'd opt for a weedless jig/plastics. I might even Vertical Cast that jig, rather than "vertical jig" it.

I'd likely continue to use the same 6# test Vicious Panfish Copolymer line that I'm using now.

Cast master pan fish or Acme spoon in 1/8 size works for me fished vertically. Lots of color choices. Check at fishusa.com. I believe they’re a sponsor here.

for open water like the Kastmaster if wood is involved prefer
Jelifish USA Snagless Green Crappie Bomb!

seem to not hang as much and able to save often tip with a minnow.

Pearl base color blade baits are my favorite but not around grabby stuff.

I really like the mini SteelShad. They are a light little blade that can be reeled slow or jigged. You can bend the tail section a little to change up action and presentation.

Another Hopkins and Steel Shad fan here. I use them in cold clearer water with good success.

Never know what might hit them either.
