I've been using weedless jigheads for several decades and yes they work just fine. I've not used the BBJ's single strand fiber style weedless jig, but see no reason why they wouldn't work.
Just remember .... they're "weedless", not "snagless" ... and they can & will hang up on things.
When a jig is dragged over an object the weight of the upturned hook will cause it to fall over. This is why the jig gets snagged. It's also the reason I prefer the multi-fiber "brush" style weedguards on my jigs, because I can "fan out" the fibers and widen the distance between the hook point and the outermost fibers of the weedguard.
