High modulus graphite rods for crappie

I've only been able to find ONE rod maker that uses high modulus graphite for their ultralight rods.

Anyone know why this is? Higher modulus = lighter, more sensitive

Plenty of rods out there with high carbon content. Phenix Elixir....Loomis....St Croix Panfish Elite....BnM TCB.....Fenwick Elite series. And if you want really high carbon content try some rods out of Japan. When rods have a high graphite content the more prone they are to breaking. You can get a lot of rods that have a high carbon content that are cheap....but......those rods will break if you look at them hard. To get a good rod with high content that will hold up requires you to spend more money because to make those blanks cost more money. As to lightness of rods I have quite a few under 2 ounces....and some at the 1.7 ounce mark. Currently eyeing a rod that comes in at 1 ounce.

Very good very thin braid on a good graohite rod will accomplish the same thing.

thin wall high graphite rods only last a short period of time unless you baby them , keep that in mind , if you really go hard at the fish with them they typically give up after a few thousand ,,,,,fyi
