    Default ACC Crappie Stix

Been considering an upgrade to my crappie rods and looking at the ACC Crappie Stix. Curious about the medium power rating. Have always used light power rods for the most part….. medium light for the heavier side of things. Medium power seems like a pretty stout rod for crappie. Can anyone with experience weigh in on the action and power? Thanks

All I can say is they feel light when you're holding them. I can feel the light bite because they are really sensitive. Here's the kicker for me, when I set the hook that's when the rod shines. You go from feeling like an ultralight to feeling like a medium fast action rod. These things have great backbone. I've caught several types of fish with mine, including catfish, and white bass. One other bonus, they stand behind their product. I had one break on a Thursday, and they had me a new one on Monday. I explained how I broke it he didn't ask for anything other than delivery info, he apologized, told me he was shipping next morning. I'm not sponsored or affiliated with ACC, but I am a satisfied customer.

I have 2 of them that I shoot docks with. As stated they are light, sensitive and have great backbone. They will flat out send a jig skittering deep under a dock. I have wrangled a couple of bonus fish out fromnunder the docks with them. Several large cats and a very determined Mirror Carp

this is a really common complaint on ACC rods , never used one myself , held one though at one point , seemed ok , but there are tons of ok rods out there that wont break really easily , just saying ......
hear tell they replace them readily though and lots of folks swear by them , but when they were handing them out to all my buds to test back when ....
guess who dint get one , likely cause I wouldn't "story" up about how great a rod it is , just saying ......

i have accumulated a few crappie rods over the last 3 years. i would rate the ACC rods probably the most sensitive of my top 3 rods for crappie. i want to just explain the sensitivity point i am saying. no bobbers or in calm water watching the line, strictly light jig fishing, just saying. i feel the thump the best with the model i have is the 6ft 6in,

ps as Ketchn mentioned there are tons of rods that won't break. BUT are they sensitive. so far my 3 Acc rods have no problems,

I've been buying ACC rods since 2018 and use them on a weekly basis year around. I sling all my fish 3 lb and under. So far I've never broke a ACC rod. I landed flathead 30# buffalo and tons of wipers on them. Super light and sensitive. Like any rod you have to make sure that nothing runs on them to weaken then since they are very thin walled.ACC Crappie StixName: IMG_20220426_084317652_HDR.jpg

They have a learning curve. When you first start using them, you will think, " this thing is to stiff". When you get used to them, you will say " why didn't l get one sooner". I have a 6'6" and a 7'6" and want a 8'. The 6'6" is the best dock shooter l've ever tried. JMHO

I don’t have any first hand experience with ACC so on that I’ll say nothing. What I wanted to say was about use of the rod and the graphite content. The IM6, IM7, and IM8 graphite have different mixes of graphite and carbon and whatever else they’re using nowadays. Handle a rod that is rated say medium action in of of each of the different IM numbers and you’d swear they weren’t all the same. That makes me wonder what ACC uses to be so light and strong, just for the sake of comparison. And on the subject of breaking rods, abuse or accident excluded, is what the rods were designed to do. I was told once that a graphite rod wasn’t designed to bend much more than 90*. The more graphite like in the IM8, the more this is supposed to apply. I bring this up to speak on slinging or boat flipping fish. Should you do this and overload the rod repeatedly, I believe the rod will eventually fail thru no fault of the maker. I have too many rods now and may never change or upgrade from what I now use but I do hear a lot of positive stuff about ACC and may give one a try. I see lots of them in other boats too so there must be something to them.

And Jack, what’s the scoop on the funky scale pattern on that carp? Don’t remember ever seeing one like it..

They break often and not everyone gets the same response you did. A friend of mine had one break when he accidentally hooked a catfish. They told him their rods weren’t designed to land catfish and wouldn’t stand behind it. I literally saw the screenshot from their customer service, probably still have it on my phone, one of the silliest things I have ever seen. There are too many good rod companies these days to fool around with stuff like this. I wish you the best of luck with yours and glad they took care of yours, but wouldn’t be fair to say that has been everyone’s experience. And I don’t have anything against them, never owned one and am not affiliated with any rod company in any way.
