still not sold on the moon thing , many times it is shining like a street light and they are biting and other times is gone from the night sky and they are biting .
hit them like you would any other time when you do well at night is my thought .
It was clear & very bright here so how would you have fished tonight to catch crappie?

One thing i noticed is that a couple weeks agon when it was the new moon phase they were in the bushy trees &
we caught them pretty good vertical jigging on livescope. Lastnight under full bright moonlight they were out away from the trees & bushes in bait in open water. Coincidence i have no idea but that's exactly what happened where i was lastnight. I also talked to some with green lights out & they said they weren't doing any good at all. What few i did catch myself were from open water 40 or so feet deep with most crappie at 8 to 10 feet under baitfish.
I fished overnight a week ago with green light and minnows. Had a very good night. Fished last night under that full moon. It was cloudy most of the night but still a full moon. I have never put much faith in moon phases for fishing but did not do well at all no matter what I tried. Tried green light, white light, and no light. Can’t see well enough to go the no light so just sat with a pole in each hand and waited for the “ thump “ that never came. If it’s not the spawn season it may be just use the full moon phase for a good nights sleep. On a side note came across a couple fellas sneaking along hitting jumps for hybrids that had some nice ones in the well.

That's what i don't understand about crappie. If that had been bass fishing they would have smoked a slow rolled spinnerbait on a local lake or a certain color baby brush hog & especially smallmouth. I've definitely caught more crappie on dark nights so far but i really don't have a clue what i'm doing or where to really target high percentage areas for them either.
Bright moon and crappie = wasted time from my experience.
Bass on the other hand will hit lures , especially black worms on moon light nights if you can get it close to them.
I don’t think they actively move about looking for food much at night.
