crappie are subject to some of the most precise presentations , just a lil tiny something different can for sure make ALL the difference , it happens to me all the time ,sometimes I have time to stay and show them and sometimes not , but to be very positive about this , color CAN matter , size CAN matter ,depth ALWAYS matters and the list goes on and on ....
it could be just a tiny something you are just missing in the equation .
dont get depressed , get mad at them crappie , mad crappie folks ketch more crappie

As stated, it's timing. Crappie follow the bait fish, and they don't stay in one spot. Could be they moved off a bit.

lots of variables. they could have been there since daylight and gotem early before they moved off shore or bait ball moved. Big thing I have seen is fishing too deep while the fish were farther up the column and I was below them. Have been on a dock where i usually do well and frustrated that I was where I usually was ticking off the brush and in holes between but not doing spit. Then a buddy of mine who is a crappie ketchn guru comes up to me and stands on same small dock using same type bait and starts whacking them and grinning at me. Course I'm ticked and say alright, what are you doing. He explains I was too deep and they were only down 4 or 5 feet instead of the 7 or 8 I was at. Raised up my jig and joined in the fun.

Outlaw has a story up of doing just that where he was whacking them good while another guy near him was stubbornly fishing 10 foot down with bigger jig while he was a 5 foot with smaller handtied.

You’ll get em next time don’t give up! When I was learning I only managed a couple after lots of time on the water. I had to buy livescope to catch any numbers and that too took many hours on water. To date, I’ve never limited out. Personal best was 16 and caught in about 1.5 hours. When you’re hot, you’re hot. When you’re not, you’re not as they say. Good luck buddy you got this
