Single, long pole 12 and 14ft rigged with 65 lb hi-vis braid ( so I can pitch, feel all hits + no memory or tangles ) and a mono leader tied with the Alberto knot.
Using jigs 99% of the time.

My favorite is to live scope around in the Stumpfield but I try to spend 50% of my time in open water chasing fish I’m not doing good at that, boat control, boat control, boat control, that the big the issue

I'd say yes, specifically if you're talking about Vertical Jigging. But, also "single poling" does lend itself to other methods (with different names & procedures), so the name "single poling" is kinda overarching as a method title.

Yes , usually around cover. Especially during the spawn.
And with a long pole I can unhook my jig about 90% of the time when I get hung up.
I pull the line back till the rod tip touches the jig, give it a wiggle-jiggle and it comes free.
And yes of course it works in open water too.
