RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME

I kayaked in a big way for 4 years. There was never a time I did not wear my PFD. And when I got back into boating it was the same way. It distresses me every time I am on the water and see folks not wearing a PFD…boat or kayak….but I really get concerned when I see kayakers without one. This past week my son and I went trout fishing on the Caney Fork. We had to wait…and fish our way around 100 recreational kayakers that outfitters had launched. Out of them only 2 had on a PFD. I would say half of them had plenty of beer with them. That river is not to be messed with and I will go to my grave never understanding their logic for not wearing one. And each year up there…as well as many other places….it ends in tragedy. So sad…those deaths could be prevented. Good thing you were close by.

Glad that you were there and able to help. As said before, PFDs should be worn. Thanks for posting story with happy ending, could have been a very sad day.
