They may be left hand threads
Has anyone taken one of these apart? I pulled one up from the bottom of a lake, rod attached, and I would like to clean and lube it. I can't get it apart. There is a spool guard on these things and I can't figure out how to remove it to get at the side plate. I have tried to remove the nut that holds the spool spindle in place but it is not budging. They don't have left hand threads do they? I haven't tried that direction yet. I am on hold with Mitchel now. I think it would make a good backup or loaner reel.

Reverse threads were the key. Got the nut off which opened Pandora's box. Its apart, I'll get it cleaned up, putting it back together will be another issue.
