    Default Following the bait question

I definitely understand the reason for it and I can see them on my electronics and on top of the water. How do you target the fish when the bait is on top of the water? I'm assuming and do try casting past them and pulling the jig through and under them at different depths with no success. Can you guys offer any advice.

I learned this when wipers were busting shad near the surface.
Use a shallow water crankbait or a small top water such as a jerkbait. If represents an injured shad. Dont be afaid to cast directly into the feeding.

I usually cast into the shad and let it fall 2-3ft then jerk it softly. Just enough to get a darting/dying action.
Good luck Following the bait question

You can add a clear casting bubble 3' or so above the tiny fluke to give you enough weight to cast. Scott
