Kaboom!
Ok .....he said Ok and the others in the mix said Ok as well .....
So off we went to the land of are you kidding me crappie slinging .....
stopped said boat over some 2 year old bamboo in the white caps ....
pitched jigs and ......KABOOM was the word ....
as is typical in the summer wind and heat we had the lake to ourselves pretty much,
a few swimmers and a yak and then there was the hammers ....driving nails like a bunch a framers in a hurry to build said structure .....
bud kept saying the dinner bell ain't rang yet and I kept saying let's move .....
a few fish in 10 minutes AIN'T really ketchn , so we kept at the location search .
hit lots of spots a few minutes each , first stop was really pretty good , but we often get bored if we ain't on them EVERY pitch .
Probably had 15 or so keepers in the livewell and I started down the let's take some shelter from this brutal wind on the other end of the lake , bet money they are stacked down there .
Well as it often goes ,the graph showed a few hanging around a drop off and we positioned the rig to be past it some and then cast up to the ledge and let that there jig of choice fall back to us ......
the graph said there were a few , but to be sure graphs don't always tell the whole story, one spot had them thick as you can imagine ,but they really wasn't playing with us well and this spot didn't show massive amounts of fish , BUT they wanted to get frisky and it was pretty much cast and set the hook every cast !
Kept a bunch and got to the if it ain't really large just throw it back situation pretty quickly, the fillet man started to whine a bit and it became , ok I will toss it back but it sure is a fat one .....
managed to ketch well over a 3 man limit in a few hours , but only kept around 40 , we blasted them good and had us a great time , sneaky fish they was ,,,,,
just REALLY light pecks and heavy lines , the thump was never in the mix ....
the 7th stop was a charm on this trip , fish were at all the stops , but the ones that wanted to REALLY get after it was the ones I wanted to get after
color seemed to be not much of a thing , but for sure the right cadence on the slow retrieve WAS .....
tossed the jig box at them for fun and nothing stood out as better than the last jig .
mixed bag of black and whites ,with what appeared to be a hybridized crappie as the last fish of the day
