I can't help but catch bass and everything else with the small lures I cast. The only difference is when decent size bass bend my light action to near breaking which panfish never do.

a 10 inch bull gill will double over an ultralite better than a 10 inch bass here in Texas ,rarely jump , but have more stamina than a short fight fish like a bass ....

I’ll always take a bass, but a 10 inch gill is something else on U/L! When they turn sideways and circle around the wagon is a magic fight!

No doubt a 10" sunfish fights and feels like a 1.5 foot long bass, the only difference being that bass don't swim sideways, in tight circles and then dart.
(Never was impressed with the taste of bass but do like the fight of any over a pound especially when they jump.)
