Never thought about it. Tilting a few degrees would let you see some in front of you. The more tilt and the more depth the farther away you could see a brush pile.
Hey guys. I've read about tilting the transducer forward a little at the bow for looking at brush piles and such.
About how much would you suggest? Mine is a flush mount so I will need to put a wedge under it to tilt it forward.
Lowrance hook 7.

I use to turn mine 15 degrees forward for spider rigging.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!shadboy LIKED above post
I never thought about that at all. Let us know your results please.

Be glad to. Also, I have found a few old threads going back to 2007 about this on C.C.
Some of those guys said they would never go back to straight down again once they got use to it.
With spider rigging it would pickup and show your lead thus you knew the approximate depth your baits were running but not exactly because transducer beam is shooting at an angle. When you are marking fish at a certain depth you know what depth to fish.
On brush piles that show fish just drop a boey marker on it.

Too much tilt, and it will distort the reading. It would be like what you see after coming to a stop. The movement will still be needed to get the ping (slices) of what ever you go by. It's not real time that your seeing. I hope I've misunderstood what your asking and someone will pop in and tell I'm wrong.

Some of the first forward facing sonar was guys was a 2d transducer pointed straight forward on a rotating pole. Turn it back and forth to find stumps on Reelfoot Lake.
Tilting the xducer forward is a viable tactic for 2d Sonar ...
As DWILL mentioned this scenario will distort an SI image ...
