As with all things water clarity or the lack of is a huge factor. Grew up fishing a very clear lake. You could not get bit unless you had casted a long cast. Those clear water fish were spooky. Move into the river system and they would bite it at the boat.

to say something does not matter or to get stuck using just one bait and or color is to for sure positive, a put you in the bleachers and not in the game situation, everything matters some days on some spots and yet other days in other spots it reverses ....this is fact

I think that during the spawn color don't matter as much as it does during other seasons. To me it does help to change up colors sometimes but bait profile helps just as much as color. Just my two cents.

Profile and action make all the difference.
Color preference doesn't exist IMO. More important: as long as you caught fish with certain colors and then - and only then - established confidence in them, water clarity doesn't matter. I can use clear soft plastic lures all day and keep up with any color used mostly because of lure design and a finesse presentation. Fish IMO are vulnerable to being aggitated to strike small slow moving lures most of their lives.

just because someone is popular in the fishing world and writes articles and has a youtube channel , it for sure dont mean they are really Ketchn em
    So true, so true.

I will take a choice of weight and profile (plastic and hair jigs) over choice of color any day.

    Update regardling color:
We had a severe storm in my area last night and high wind and blue sky today. Clear plastic lures caught everything in 2' - 5':
yellow and white perch, pickerel, bass, mostly crappie (48) and sunfish - 124 fish in total. I went to laminated finesse worms and caught a bunch as well as darker colored plastics.
I would have caught far more except for the 25 mph wind, but at least all lure designs caught fish which was the goal.
