I have 2 AIN'T'S on my boat. If it AIN'T in a lockable compartment, it AIN'T in the boat at home or away.

Also a lockable gas cap on vehicle and boat if possible.

Most automobiles have a security system now. Possibly it is time for boat alarms

I have had several big cc boats for fishing the bay and ocean on the eastern shore of md .when i stayed in a hotel or even rental house i would take everything that was not bolted down into the room .i hated to . it was a bunch of trips to do it and i was always beat by the end of the day but i did not want to replace thousands in rods and tackle . never had a prob but i never gave anyone a chance for a five finger discount .

"If you leave it in plain sight, the JACKWAGONS will steal it." Warrensburg PD

I grew up in Los Angeles, spent 6 years in Vegas and followed that rule from the time I started driving. The reason JACKWAGONS break windows is because they see things of value, this will not stop them from taking something off your boat. When I stay at Lake Fork, anything not bolted down, went into the storage lockers or the bed of my truck. The extra effort is worth me not having to claim it on my insurance and argue the value of my gear.

It is terrible that you have to worry so much about leaving something that someone might steal. Sad part is most of the would be thieves work harder to steal something and get far less in return than if they had did an honest days work

Along the same line: If you leave your Yeti (or any high $ unit) the dopers will break the window out of your SUV to get it. The pawn shops in Paducah have a steady supply of them, and at a price very close to a new one. I'm sure they don't give the dopers any where near that when they come it to sell them.
