Those trophy fish managed to eat one of their siblings from that point they grew large enough to continue to prey upon the smaller crappie in the pond. No shortage of food for these guys. Pretty interesting concept.

It was interesting I seen the same one. If one knows of ponds that are littered with small fish might be worth it to catch a few bigger Crappies and throw them in there, create a trophy fishery while helping the pond health.

Some Flatheads in the mix would certainly speed up the correction

Just one would be plenty. Several would wreck the pond

i have seen blues put in to help keep things in line , bass sometimes help as well , never seen a flatty put in to correct it .
one stocking program i saw years ago included hybrid stripers .....
keep in mind this though , the fish in this post came out of a big lake not a pond , just saying .

Back in the day I used to walk about 3 miles to a secluded pond that had a few blues in it . Never fished for them , just the big bluegill and bass that lived in there . One particular visit is etched in my mind , dipped my peeper frog under a tiny float by some Lilly pads and the float hit the water and just kept going down...I thought darn cracked plastic bobbers are just junk !
Went to snatch it back out to repair the issue and it was hung on something , started jerking fire out of it and all the sudden the log started for open water ! The fight that ensued was ridiculous and the number 10 long wire cricket hook was in it's whisker , up and down the shore line we went and after a good bit it tired , it was far to big for me to handle by myself and I gave it one 22 long rifle between the eyes when it was at the bank !
At 33 inches long and in the area of 20 lbs . it was for sure a beast , thank goodness the fella that owned the place came along to feed his cows and gave me a lift back home with it , probably would still be walking home to this day with that big ole fishee !
