    The number of spines in the dorsal and anal fins identifies it as a rock bass.

    Rock bass…as to tilapia in TN…..at the discharge canal at the Gallatin steam plant…..in the winter you can catch 100’s a day. They thrive there. That is where the TN state record tilapia of 7 pounds 6 ounces was caught.

    not really , they will fin the living FIRE out of you and it is all but impossible to lip them .
    AND a hook in them vulcanized radial tire lips is about impossible to get out .
    THEN if you cut thru the rib cage when you fillet them.....

    That is a rock bass. Here in TN we have 2-3 different colors. Some are green, some brown and some almost black. A warmouth here has the bluegreen squigglies on the cheeks and gills and no red eyes.

    It was a weekend with 2 TARP eligible fish. One of my best weekends. I have decided to go after 3 more and get my patch.

    I count 12 dorsal spines and 5 anal spines.

    Rock bass have 11-13 dorsal spines and 5-7 anal spines.

    Warmouth have 10 dorsal spines and 3 anal spines.
