    Default Rods for Spiderigging??

Wanting to order some rods from Grizzly Jigs for an elderly friend for spiderrigging. He's used 10' rods for years so I don't think he'll want anything over 12'. He basically doesn't use much weight, maybe a jig and a couple large split shot at most. Any suggestions??

I have 8 14' Jenko Spider Trolls and I highly recommend them. I am very hard on rods and I have quite literally had these rods bent end to end and have never broken a rod, tip, or an eye. I have caught everything from crappie, white bass, hybrid stripers, catfish, and even a 70+ pound spoonbill over the 5 years I've owned them and I'm impressed with these rods every outing I use them. I would say I have boated close to 500 fish with my set. Even though they are extremely tough, I would say the sensitivity is very good. They wouldn't be quite as sensitive or as light as Slab Citys or B'n'M BGJPs, but I personally am willing to trade off a bit of sensitivity and weight for how strong these rods are.

I had actually picked the Jenko Spider Trolls as a possible choice as it has spare tips available. Something he wanted. He has broken rods before so good durability is definitely something I'm looking for. Thanks

I have 10 12' BGJP that I would sell for $30 each and would be willing to meet somewhere between Springfield and your location. Or would ship, but that would probably add too much to cost to make worth if for you. 5 still have tags on them. Also have an 8 rod set of 16'er, but that doesn't sound like what you are looking for.

Him saying he fished very little weight was the only reason I suggested the slab city over the spider trolls. Probably can’t go weigh either way.

All of these mentioned are good rods, no questions. But I have to say that I’ve done everything that came to mind with my 12’ BGJP’s. They are a versatile rod and tips are available, but I’ve never broken one and I’m not gentle. I use them for trolling cranks and jigs along with single pole jigging in the weeds and slop where they sometimes hide. A worth it investment to my way of thinking.

Ordered him the Jenko Spider Trolls. Thanks for all the suggestions. I used the 11 foot BGJP's for years spiderrigging myself. Good rods.
