Lip hooked or snagged? I've shot them while bowfishing but never had any luck getting them to take bait, although I heard kernels of corn work at times.

no clue , never saw my jig till it came out , but it was somewhere on or in its head for sure ......
them rubber lips are hard to stick a hook in , but several of the ones I have managed were in the mouth
a few not so much .....that is when it is really a fight to the finish
p.s , they love that store bought catfish blood bait and also cheese , just saying
