Default Mother Nature at her finest

Arrived at Grenada Lake for the "Spring Spawn"on a Wednesday. Had a couple days of good fishing. Then the cold front came through Friday night. Our well educated weather folks said we could possibly see "a few flurries". I woke up Saturday morning to this. Spent the most part of the morning with my dust pan shoveling 4" of snow out of the boat. On top of that, there was a major crappie tournament on the lake that weekend. Not sure if it was Crappie USA or American Crappie Trail. All the folks who arrived a few days early spent many a wasted hour, effort, gallons of $4+ gallons of fuel. Mother Nature pretty much leveled the playing field and made everyone start from scratch on day 1 of the tournament. Water temps dropped 9 degrees overnight. Talked to a fella at the gas station that was in 9th place. He said he could see 3 or 4 dozen fish on a structure, watch his jig hit the fish on the nose and never get a strike. Not sure if I made him feel any better but I told him it was the same for us recreational folks too.

Those few ferries covered the boat pretty good.

You sure are brave leaving your rods out in the open like that on your boat overnight in a campground. We always put our stuff out of sight next to the tent or camper when camping in Ohio or Florida.

we never leave nothing we don't want to "giveaway" outside or in plain sight either , back of the truck is another way to "giveaway" things as well .
we stopped at a motel on trip hunting one time and left an ice chest full of drinks in the back , the drinks were all gone in the morning .....not kidding

There is plenty of people out there that needs your stuff more than you do. Leave it out and help those needy souls.

It's never a problem at these campgrounds. It's a COE campground. Patrolled day and night by park rangers and sheriff's dept. Everybody leaves their stuff out. I leave rods and reels I'm not going to use that day laying under the camper. In the years I've been going there I have never had, nor heard of a problem. I'm a light sleeper too. Anyone messing around would have to make some noise or have a flashlight. I turn all the lights off at the camper so it's nice and dark. They'd definitely trip over something.

And..........I keep my sign up always.
