I have Active Target mounted on a Rite-Hite turret and a Ghost trolling motor. IMO the Ghost does well in the wind.

I used to 2 pole vertical jig but with this setup I only 1 pole.

Look up my son, Jeff Larch, on Youtube and see his videos on his set up he used to win the 2021 Mr. Crappie Classic. He uses a tandem set of trolling motors mounted on the back and controlled with a foot button up front. He uses these like a set of brakes to completely stop his boat to livescope a fish. He has even backed up off of them and caught some giants!

He caught all his fish in the same area I fish, I just live 3 miles from the marina and there's good fish there that most boats blow on by and head out to the river. Congrats to him on the win.

Regarding the double trolling motors, can you use two cheap ones or how is this set up?

Any hand steer trolling motors will do. He started out with 2 Minn Kota 30 lb thrusts which worked fine. Just deploy them like you're trying to pull the boat backwards. Turn both of them on high. Control the off and on with a Bigfoot trolling motor button up front. Works great!

Works good on aluminum boat transoms. You'll have to get creative to mount them on bass boats.

I have one of those cheap minkota hand ones for 100 bucks but they don't come with a foot petal. Has anyone tried this with one trolling motor in the back?

I think one would probably work. It would be slower to respond and could pull the boat to one side a little. That's the reasons he went with a tandem set up. Definately would try just one to begin with. Just run the negative wire all the way to the bow and put a Bigfoot OFF/ON switch in line.
Don't forget to story the trolling motor before getting on plane! Has happened!!

Can you show the big foot on off button? I was trying to find it?

I do it poor man style. I still fought with wind in my face. I'll drop chain and go with the wind and hunt now. High sided aluminum boat that acts like a sail. I'll go into the wind if the wind is under 6-7mph, over that, I go upwind and drop chain and go down wind. For the chain haters, I got blown by a 30mph gust the other day and drug through brush I was targeting....turned around and brush wasn't affected.
