    Default Crappie Candy Trip

The Ol Bee has been fishing but just not posting much. As we get older and the Maine Winter gets longer I find myself going it alone. I'm 76 now so each time I'm out I have to be a bit more careful on where and when I go. Today was one that started with a little TV time. That sun looked nice and it was 6 degrees. So I shut the TV off got my ice fishing gear gathered up. It stays pretty much ready. I got the snowmobile loaded up and headed out. Had to stop for sum of that 4 buck gas. I got to the unload spot and did the unload upload thing. I took a freshly groomed snowmobile trail for 4 miles. Got to the spot and no one had been there in a few days. No tracks in the snow. The ice is about 2 ft thick. I drilled a hole dropped a jig and bam fish in. I did that drop fish on thing about 25 times. I brought home I think 16. I cleaned them and they will become what I like to call Crappie Candy. Smoked fillets.

Smoked crappie sounds very good! Nothing like the feeling of reeling in a fish no matter the age

Frowning at our low 30s predicted for Sunday makes me feel like a weenie after reading your report. My hats off to you and thank you for sharing the outing.

Great report bee. Show a pic of some of that smoked candy and it'd make a fantastic home page article.
