Default Opinions on jigheads with wire keepers?

Anyone used jigheads with wire keepers vs traditional barbs? The seem 2x more expensive, wondering if they work any better?

Haven’t seen them 2x as expensive. I’ve made and used them for years and seem to be a thing now a days. They work great for the plastics I use as I use a medium hard to hard plastisol but would advise against using them on a softer plastic like Bobby garland.

I tried them and they were not worth the hassle for me. A thin wire hook and line that is just large enough to straighten the hook is a much better option for me.

A wire keeper is much better, the plastic will pull apart before it slips down the jig.

    Consider screw lock jigs.
Maybe they will bite this one……

most collared jigs and wire keepers/screws and such that hold plastics in place ,tear up plastics right fast , just saying , would much rather push my plastic back up than to replace it.
my vote is no keepers or collars please .

For Crappies not so much but when I am fishing Walleyes they are a must, with the bigger plastics it works much better to keep the plastics in place.

I've tried them all even Fishing Machine Richard Genes technique which I liked but hated super glue. As stated above no collar is the simplest and longest lasting on plastics and also allows for changing plastics easily.

I fish with 2 1/2” Gulp minnows a lot and I prefer a wire keeper although I use needle nose pliers and squash the keeper down about halfway so it doesn’t tear up the minnow as much.
