Here in my area the only bait available is worms. Just getting back to fishing again and going to use the bobber method a lot simply because it’s relaxing to me. I fish mainly 2 small lakes so set up a 16’ pontoon. They’re going to miss me at work.
I was in Academy the last weekend and saw that they sold live worms. I'm definitely going to give it a try.

Find wherethe water from summer rains feed into the lake. Cast the worms under the float and let them wash down in the current. Fish work these like a buffet after the rains wash insects and other things to fish to eat into the water. Catfish will work this area as well

work well on BG, bass and trout. havn't used on crappie but surely they would work at times.
