    Default Transducer advice needed

I have a low end Lowrance device. The transducer is transom mounted. I have a 9.9 outboard. My issue is when running I get false indications of fish. I know it is prop wash. Does anyone have any ideas of a way to help curtail this problem? It’s not a make or break thing for me, but If possible I would like to stop at least some of it. I am thinking of acquiring a new Garmim someday but would like to not have the same situation with it.

Are you referring to fish symbols? If so I would turn off fish ID.

You shouldn't be picking up prop wash since it is behind the boat. If your boat is riveted aluminum you could be picking up aeration from hull.

Thanks that makes sense. And yes it is an alumacraft. I have yet figured out a way to turn off fish symbols on this thing lol. Lots to learn.

Make a post in the electronics section about your unit model with any questions you have. If fish ID can be turned off somebody will know how to help.

I found this. I believe you will find it in settings. The video is helpful for using settings etc, the manual discusses installation and use.

Make sure your transducer is not directly behind a strake on the hull. This will as mentioned above, cause an air pocket or wash that interferes at speed.

I gave a buddy two older Lowrances once to install on a small boat he wanted to crappie fish out of. He said man i don't believe that thing's are right it shows thousands of fish. I stopped by one day just shooting the bull & he mentioned it again. I looked & he had the transducer 90 degrees out. Instead of it facing to where it would read below the boat he had it turned in reading the transom instead. You talking about making fun of him i did. .
