Default Hand Controlled Bow Mount Trolling Motors

Does anyone have a hand controlled bow mount trolling motor ? Pros? Cons? Thanks for responding.

Some people love them. I used one many years ago with a foot switch to turn it on and off. I bass fished at that time. Tighten the tension knob so it stays where you put it and it works okay. Richard Gene the Fishing Machine uses one in his videos. That would let you see it on action

It's a personal preference but hand control trolling motors are the only ones I will use. I added a foot switch to mines and it fits my style of fishing perfectly. I simply bump the foot switch to get back into position. I could never get use to a foot operated trolling motor. In fact I just removed a remote controlled Motor guide W55 from my new boat to add a hand control trolling motor. I simply love them.

You might want to move this to the main crappie fishing board. I think you would pick up more viewers. That said, welcome from Pennsylvania!

Hand controlled with a foot switch was my favorite for many years until I got a anchor/spot lock. I never liked foot controls. The one on my motorguide stayed in the Lund storage compartment. When I got the new boat I ordered a Terrova without the foot pedal. Luv the spot lock.

I have one on our bigger fishing boat. it is the only one we have that has the elevated "bass boat" style fishing deck. I have spine issues, and problems with neuropathy, that cause me to have balance issues. The hand control trolling motor is a life saver for me. I have always felt like the foot control ones are a bit of a safety issue for standing and fishing. Now I do have a foot controlled TM on the small boat that you sit in to fish. I really want one of the new ones with "fly by wire" type pedals so I can fish from any seat in the boat and still drive the TM.

Same here. The foot pedal has only been used once. It is now no longer in the boat. If the remote stops working I can use the phone app to control the trolling motor

I had one with variable speed and added an on off switch activated with my foot. Also had the extension handle with the U-joint worked great.

Since then upgraded to remote practically hands free. Hand Controlled Bow Mount Trolling Motors
