On a small boat it's the thing. On a bigger boat, maybe not. I had one the front of my last boat. When I sold it, some guy saw the pics of it and called just to ask where I found a trolling motor for the front of the boat. I told him how to take the screw out and spin the head.

Me personally would never use a hand control bow mount I do too much casting to waste time constantly turning a trolling motor by hand. On my Ulterra the only time I use my remote is when I am trolling other wise I use the pedal. I should take that back the other time I use the remote is fishing wingdams on the river for Walleyes when in spot lock and the jog feature.

This. I started crappie fishing in 1976 with a 14ft Polarcraft boat, 9.9 Yamaha motor, and a 32lb (I think) minn Kota trolling motor. Fished that way for 37 years and caught tons of fish. We would mount a seat and pedestal on the front and fish with our feet on the front lip. Nothing between us and the fish except air and opportunity. The hand controlled trolling motor provided excellent boat control and stealth when necessary. I’ve been threatening to get rid of all my high tech junk and go back to that.

Note: my childhood buddy who tournament fishes has gone back to this type of fishing since livescope came out. He mounted his livescope on his trolling motor. He’s doing quite well.

Small boat guy here-14 footer. I've never used a foot control so have nothing to compare it to. However, I do fish bridges often and weave in and out of bridge pilings jigging all around them. I like the hand control for that. If I were just cruising along the banks, seems that foot control would be better.

Thanks ya'll for all the responses and the welcomes. I'm still trying to learn how and where to post. I figured I didn't put this in the right place.

I still use a Minn Kota Edge hand-controlled bow mount TM on my Tracker Grizzly. Thats what I'm used to and have no plans to change. Used friends foot controlled several times and prefer the hand control 100 times over.
