Uncooked, the rind is quite flexible, but very strong, and should stay on a hook.
When you think of how easy a worm pulls off a hook, the rind pieces should be able to yield more than one crappie to the piece, maybe several.
When trimmed, it actually looks like a worm.
No plans to eat the rind, just planning to fish with 'em instead of just throwin' 'em away.
Would think the rind could dry out if not used fairly quick or stored properly. Perhaps cut into strips or desired shape and store in a container containing slab or G-sauce might be the ticket... and then again......it might be quite disgusting upon opening. Would be interested to know how this works out for you perhaps with some pics. Could always leave a bit of fat below the skin, cut into strips and fry low and slow in a cast iron skillet and have some cracklings.... not healthy I know but.....

I trimmed the rinds into 2" long pieces and put in a zip lock in the refrigerator, will freeze if I don't use them fairly soon.
As mentioned, they are about the size of small fishing worms, and look like 'em.
I'll let yall know how they do next trip out!

Always liked the crunchy part as a kid. Can't really bite it but the flavor is awesome.

An old guy back in the 70s taught me to cut a triangle of pork rind and put on my hair jigs that he also taught my how to tie. Caught a lot of crappie in the oxbows back then. Don't know why I quit using it.

the salt and oil in them will likely do the trick , especially in turbid waters , white and wiggly and tasty will get it done

From a pure calorie stand point it is a high energy food. Definitely a plus in the animal world
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
