Many times things come full circle. Watched some research a company was doing on steam engines for automotive applications as a greener alternative to internal combustion. Aleays full circle
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

Here’s a close up of the winder.
1. Tie up your rig at home.
2. Attach end of line to tip of pole.
3. Wrap rig around winder.
4. Secure winder to pole.

When you’re ready to fish:
1. Take off end cap.
2. Remove rubber band to release winder.
3. Extend all sections.
4. Catch fish!
We used to fish that way, especially at Santee Cooper, for bass and crappie. 16 to 20' fiberglass rod with about 18" of 30# test line hanging off the end of the pole. We called it "Jiggering". It was really exciting to have a bass explode on a buzzbait on that rig.
used to don waders and use a 10 ft. black widow with 20 lb test tied on the tip in the spring
some 40 plus years ago it was pretty fun hooking big fish with 2 foot of line off the rod tip
now mind you there is a method to the madness , you must have a short handle trout style landing net over one shoulder and after taking a bit of the fight out of one, you under arm the rod , to the net in the other hand .
it is tricky to say the least and a big bass will about dislocate your arm , but the spots you can hit are in places NOBODY else can touch without this strategy
you can wade in where boats can't even reach and hit spots that aint never seen an angler .
sure came out with stringers full of slabs that made folks envious doing that back when .

it truly is a "lost art" , have not seen a soul in many years do it and even though I have few "just a 10 ft. rod" here and there , it still don't get done by me these days .
it is much like stalking with a bow and arrow , you sneak in really slowly and try not to spook the fish .
it can be addicting and in some cases it is way past hilarious , if a fish over 2 lbs or so hits the jig with that short of a line off the tip it becomes instantly on like DONKEY KONG !
