Default Lead Me Not Into Temptation

When It comes to fishing I cave pretty quickly
Yesterday I was sitting in a restaurant having lunch with my wife after the fishing expo when the phone rings. An old fishing on the other end says let's go shoot some docks in the morning. Forecast for this morning is 22 degrees. Actual temperature at the launch 18.. I have rock salt inbthe truck in case the ramp is frozen. Absolutely didn't want to launch the truck and the boat. We got to the first dock we were going to shoot. 3rd cast in and out comes a short crappie. My first of 2022. Two more shots the 2nd short fish is having it's photo taken before I toss him back. I am pretty stoked that this is going to be a great day. We didn't boat another fish all day. We did catch up on old times, had a blast laughing and joking. I also got to shoot that sweet little 4'6" B&M Sharpshooter with a Tennessee handle. Great little rod lightweight. Just floats in your hand. Nothing beats fun and fellowship shared with a friend fishing. Name: 20220123_091821.jpg

Well you did better then I did today. I got skunked….. it was a humbling experience. Been a long long time since I was skunked. Still enjoyed getting out and seeing the lake with snow everywhere. Looks like a good little rod. Glad you caught first fish 2022.

I remember an early fishing trip one year , my brother and launched the boat at a marina across from a bridge leading into the creek we planned on fishing .
Before taking off to head up the creek , I made a cast toward the rip rap at the bridge and had a tangle on my favorite UL . I’d put too much line on it when changing it out .
When I got it straightened out and wound up the slack , I had a nice keeper crappie on .
That was the only bite we got all day .

It was good to get the first of the year out of the way. First weekend I have had of since the first of the year. Watched a guy pulling 8 planer boards. Only saw him on one fish. Passed a fella with a spread of minnows under floats not doing much either

Congratulations on your first of the year, mine was exactly 4in long and was followed by a smaller one. Gotta start somewhere we do!

You all are a heck of a lot tougher than me. Fishing stops being fun if it's under 40F.

I hadn't seem that young fella in about 8 months and hadn't had him on the boat in over 2 years. That was a big consideration in why I showed up there this morning. Otherwise I believe I would have slept in and started building some crappie structure

I wanted to go today but instead walked the new pup to the boat ramp and back. About 2 miles round trip.
I think the temp was about 29-30 around noon.
    Got commitments until Wednesday.
    Might get out then.
    Good job DSJ.
