I know people complained about gander mountain but are local one was nice to go check out reels and get a feel how they are, there's no good place local anymore after they closed up.

TW, I have about 7 presidents and like em all. That said, I have to cast a strong vote for the Daiwa regal LT 1000. I now have three regals with two in 2500 and a 1000 on my TSS rod from the trout magnet people and it is a sweet outfit. I use it with 3 lb fireline crystal and it’s a casting fool. The good braid though is the Sufix Nanobraid in 2lb used with a 4lb clear leader for abrasion. It’s a whole new world and will take you a while to learn to finesse instead of wrestle fish. I’ve landed two 3 1/2lb LMB and a few cats that big too. They all liked my little jigs. The drag on the Regal leaves nothing to be desired and if you look you can find them for the $60 that I paid for all three of mine.

I found some of mine at Academy and their pricing is fair.

Ya I haven't Hurd any problems with the phluegers, I know the president is better then the trion, but the few I've had were great. The small trion I used used to be $10 cheaper then the next size up trion, $30 if I remember right, the extra money for the president is probably worth it if I go to the next size up reel.

I like my presidents but have lost the handle and end stop when the fishing was crazy last spawn. anyone know where I can pick up handles for the lady pink president?

Like the look of the grizzly and daiwai's in mkt for a couple of additions myself and sure others are too with their gift cards or just wanting to buy some fishing stuff as we NEED it. I just tell my wife it's for her fishing and it's all good.

Cabelas has the Pflueger President XT Limited Edition for about $10.00 more than your stated budget. They are a nice reel and have the wooden handle you asked about. I bought a pair of the 25 size, which is the equivalent to a 1000 series reel and a pair of the 30 size which is equivalent to a 2500 size reel last month when they were on sale for $49.00. The 25 size is a nice reel. Skip a trip to McDonalds to cover the extra $10.00.

Seems a lot of people aren't liking the president xt limited, I guess they made them cheap and are trying to push them as better.

I own 10 of Shimano IX reels for my spider rigging rods. Bought them from my local tackle shop for $10 each.
