    Default Getting back into it

Hello all I am new here not sure why it's taken me so long but I'm here now. My name is troy I'm 30 years old and live around Middletown New York about a hour from the city i am less then 10 miles away from pa and nj as well.

Anyway I've been kinda out of crappie fishing for years, I'll catch some here and there but haven't been really set up for them since I was younger. Me and dad loved to crappie fish we had takle boxes and combos just for crappie, and I'd like to get back to that.

So I had a $50 bass pro shops gift card from Christmas and got a few baits for crappie last night. I picked up a 150 something piece crappie tube kit, some crappie magnet fin spins and some of the pro series that look really good be they work nice. Still a bunch of stuff I need to get tho.

I have some ul rods but there worn down and broke one over this winter so I'll be looking at a few rods for crappie when I have the money.

So thanks for letting me join and hope to lean a bunch hear and talk with some good people, recommended baits and some rods and reels you all like would be helpful thanks.

Welcome from Southwest Missouri. You don't have to buy top name brand equipment to catch crappie. A ultra-light rod or light medium action rod with a fast tip section will work. You didn't say whether you were bank fishing or from a boat. Welcome to the site, and i look forward to reading some of your adventures...

Just bank fishing I don't have a boat anymore, by late spring have to use mostly bobbers and cast for the open areas around the weeds. I'll slowly stock up on stuff over winter not looking like we're getting ice this year so maybe I can get out for pre spaw.
