Default Late Fall Fishing using ABOA Dart Spin for Crappies (Light Tackle Baitcasting Setup)

    Hi Folks!

I haven't been around lately.. My bad! My boy just turned 2 and mannnnn... The amount of time spent with the family equates to less fishing, let alone going around different social media communities to share/talk about fishing. But with the holidays here, I have decided to pop in to do some winter read ups and to partake in some discussion. Most importantly, Gotta share my latest fishing trip!

A quick glance at the forums, I haven't seen much BFS crappie fishing here. Or basically finesse baitcasting setups. So here's a video of me slinging a tiny tail spin lure from A Band of Anglers called the Dart Spin. These come with two packs for their most smallest one at 2.5 inches. if the hook breaks, you can always take the inner hook out and put in your own favorite jig at 1/16th ounce. I found that the VMC Moon Eye Jig fit okay. Lets see how long it lasts

Any how, My Setup is as follows:

Reel: Shimano Curado BFS Reel - This was upgraded to the Avail Spool plus additional magnets from Avail.
Rod: Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse 7'4" Light Action
Line: Varivas Super Trout Advance Bait Finesse PE line 4x .8 GOH (super thin and is about 15 lb breaking strength) Note the diameter is insane (0.153mm/0.0060″)
Leader: Varivas Absolute MG FC - 7 lbs but it's also thin 1.7 goh/0.218mm/0.009″

Before Fall ended, I nailed many fishes and species, but right at the end of fall, I got mainly short strikes, so i ended my video session quick as I used it mainly to test out my new upgraded spool while kayak fishing with my brother. I hope to share more of this fishing style with you guys if you are interested. In the mean time, enjoy the video

This is where all the JDM UL stuff is:

Most of the JDM guys are using spinning gear, though.

Yeah I don't use all JDM stuff so I just throw this in the general section. The Shimano Curado BFS is the first shimano BFS reel they have decided to drop in NA/EU this year. I guess they are gonna test the market with that before they bring over more reels and rods from Japan. BFS is on the rise!

I am aware that most folks in here use Spinning. I was using spinning for many years as well until i got fed up with line twists for fishing slack line or just throwing too light of a lure.

I am sure i'll see more and more crappie folks use BFS since they have been blowing up everywhere on social media

I am familiar with his store! His stuff are always limited quantity (almost always sold out) and mostly expensive stuff. Great write ups as well.
