I have always cleaned on the counter on a cutting board, one of those plastic ones. On ones the wife wants whole, they get scaled with a spoon, curve to the top. No scale flying that way. scales and innards go in plastic bag and into trash. Wash area down very well, and you would never know you cleaned fish their.

I clean my fish outside. My fish cleaning table is a old ironing board I keep in the garage. With a electric knife I can get the job done pretty quickly.

    To each his own …
I’ve always cleaned them on the edge of the yard. I have a 4x6 cleaning table with a sink built in.
I could see the need for indoor cleaning up north where it’s so cold.
