I've caught lots of carp but only two or three of them were mirrors.

mirror carp are not very common in these parts , seen only one or 2 in my life in the wild and never managed to ketch one .
if I remember right they are coveted by fish pond people and worth pretty fair dollars .
cool fish for sure , congrats

The scales did have a pretty iridescence that did not show up on camera as well as it did to the eye. That one is still swimming around with a better understanding of why not to grab a crappie jig.

Carp ruin fish ponds here, water stays too warm. No vegetation is in the ponds within a year.

Jack, they are a blast on a jig pole though. I never seen one like that, looks cool. I caught a carp in Stennis Space Center on a jig over 10 pounds. It took quite a while before I saw it much less got it in my net. I'm glad you posted the pictures.

i was talking about goldfish ponds , not actual fishing ponds , carp are a scourge for sure , they love to hit beds and eat eggs in the spring

If I had known it was somewhat unusual of a fish. I would have called Bass Pro down in Chattanooga to see if they wanted it for the aquarium. It swims still waiting for someone else to ask "What Did I catch"
