I guess it would depend on which style you use to fillet. I usually use a 6" or an 8 for crappie when I use a conventional fillet knife. I use an electric most of the time. It just seems a little faster
I've always used a 6" Rapala but I saw a guy, who fishes a lot more than me, using a 4" Rapala. For average 10-12" Crappie what are most people using? Thanks.

Here in MS I would prefer the longer blade for average crappie

I prefer sharp! That said, I now like the short Rapala filet knife.

most use a billy bay knife these days , it seems to cover the venue well .
6 inch blade length and past sharp about 3.5 miles
