Should be a fairly easy fix now that he knows the location of the trouble
I'm not sure, just know what he has been telling me. He said if he holds reel straight up vertically it is fine but when turned or angled it has the tick....
He will figure it out or break it....lol.

I was just going to say they’re not that great a reel. Just affordable and pretty. The drags haven’t held up well in the smallest ones for me. Especially after they get wet. I’m currently giving the daiwa revros a try. Comparable in price and size and so far using it this season, no complaint so far. Time will tell tho.
Ketchn thanked you for this post
Latest update.... he has figured it out and I think he slightly bent it and it is smooth with no tick now. Thanks everyone.

A little tick is alright as long as your reeling in a crappie each time
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Get a Shimano Sahara , likely won't ever malfunction under the average guys use of it .
Nobody abuses reels harder than myself , I burn thru about all of them, but that said ,I have 2 twin Saharas and them things are what legends are made of, flat out .......
the numbers of fish that have fallen victim to them is not reality and they are still like the day I bought em back when.
ticking problem solved forever
