One thing comes to mind though , your issue might be tree rats , they often get in boats and chew chew chew ,as well .....just saying .
Squirrels like electrical wiring also. No telling how much in damage they do in the attic of houses each year. I rewired one years ago that had the insulation stripped from every wire in the attic. It was a mess

never tried it , but if you do , let me know , i always wondered .....
Given the same treatment I believe I would search for more hospitable surroundings myself

We had a 2012 Honda Fit and they destroyed the wiring harness. Our insurance paid to get it repaired and wrapped with this. It can be ordered online.

Honda produces a capsaicin-treated tape (part number 4019-2317) which is sold through Honda dealers and online. Wrapping repaired or existing wires in the tape effectively deter rodents from chewing on them. This tape lacks the painful odor one would expect of a capsaicin product but prolonged skin exposure will cause burning.

I have a coworker that swears by those sonic modules to keep them away from his vehicles.

They like bird feed both new and old. I wage war on them several times a year at the chicken coops

A daily battle all year long on the farm, during the winter we really go full out...poison boxes in every shed, baited snap traps and sticky traps in the cabs of all the parked machinery in the sheds, once a week we check traps and poison boxes.
It really sucks when you hop in your expensive piece of machinery turn the key and all the warning lights and buzzers go off because the rodents have ate through a ecu/ecm harness.
