Good info to know when thinking about spending your money. It will be interesting to see if the OP gets any action with his problem.

Sorry for the violation. Got a little fired up.
I took one of my reels, name omitted, to a reel repairman. He said the issue I had with 6 of 14 reels can be repaired with a couple $$ worth of parts and a small service fee. Once they are out of warranty, modification will be made if problem pops up.

Had an issue with a manufacturer on a reel myself , never worked right from the get go , beat my hands more than once that very first
outing with the anti reverse not staying in anti reverse.
took it back to where I bought it the next day , same routine , contact the manufacturer about the warranty .....
and so it began , the longest make it right in the history of warranties ......

i am the OP about my sons reel, Daiwa did call and the lady said the reel is on the way back, minus the repairs. i will take that, because at first they would not return it unless payment was made of around 90 plus dollars, i can probably find the new anti reverse bearing somewhere online, any good online parts store to start looking.

To get this correct. They repaired the reelunder warranty. Wanted to charge you. Then removed the repair parts and are now going to return the reel? Pay a tech to fix the reel and then pay a tech to unfix the reel. Mark me as astonished. Doesn't look good for their warranty department

Yes, this is a kind of weird story. Thanks for the feedback - maybe contact daiwa corporate in this country?

I had an issue with a couple of Diawa rods a few years back . Same model different lengths . Broke first time out while casting .
I emailed them about what I should do .
I’m still waiting for a reply.
Edit: I wanted to add. I still buy their products, but only if the retailer will take care of me if I have an issue , otherwise I just move on .
Don't order parts yet. I got a feeling the reel will come back repaired.
can't imagine anyone dumb enough to take the parts back out of the reel and send it back broke
that is beyond stupid by a couple of miles , if it is/was a loss on their end ,it would only make sense to cut the losses and not add to them .
