Cool Best trip ever part two - knife story

Took me awhile to post again, but I wanted to thoroughly test the knife. Short version is... I like it!

And here's the longer version with pics.
I also have fillet knives by Bass Pro & Rapala. Though small, the Rapala is my "go to" for little fish most of the time. Up to now, the very flexible Bass Pro handled the bigger fish. There were times when I wished for a stiffer 7" knife & the Smith's Mr. Crappie, courtesy of Slab, fits that bill nicely. I feel like I have a fillet knife for every situation now. Smith's Mr. Crappie has the best grip & sheath of the 3 in my opinion. Comfortable, no-slip grip, & the sheath "locks" into place with a snap. As far as sharpening, cutting, & edge retention goes, they're pretty equal across the board as far as I can tell.

Now let's meet some of our helpers. (Regarding size, I've had a heck of a time finding/catching decent sized crappie this year. But there's no size or creel limits on the small lakes I frequent here in NC.)

I've only used the Smith's Mr. Crappie for filleting duties since it came into my possession so that I could best form an honest opinion. I butchered a few fish at first, but once I got a feel for the knife I began to make short work of my catches.

And now for the money shots.

Thanks again Slab for the sweet prizes! Cool shirt, CDC sticker, & best of all Smith's Mr. Crappie fillet knife. I'm confident I will get many years of service out of it.

I agree, the blades are real good but the handle and sheath made the Smiths knives absolutely great. Super value for the price with what you get for sure.
