That is the size I have. I originally bought it for a kayak. The fish are certainly hard to see on it.

Pretty bad when someone will take a mans fishing gear. Old timers hard and fast rule ya didn't mess with a man's wife, tools, or vehicle. I am pretty certain fishing gear falls under the tools category

This is a similar scenario, just on a smaller scale :

These fish would "look at" a jig, but rarely bite one. So we had to get our minners down to within 1ft or less of the pod of fish, or else they'd rise to it and look it over and leave ... but they were usually the smaller ones in the pod, as evidenced by the ones that did actually bite on the minner. Strangely enough, the condition or size of the minner didn't much matter to them, as they hit tiny ones, big ones, & dead ones at the same rate.

Almost sounds like a territorial responce to the minnows. They got too close and the crappie hit them

If doesn’t need to be heavy duty for boat then maybe a kayak option would work. Yakattack or Ram mount and some PVC or something just throwing ideas out

It will eventually get upgraded to something bigger. I do not use it too often shooting docks.
I have been looking to a pontoon to make a bridge, brushpile, nightfishing machine. Then I will decide on electronics

Two people up front set up to spider rig could cover a wide swath of water.
