I have one. Didnt care for it when I first got it. Handle was too big diameter and I didnt like the reel “rings”. After I got reel where I liked it I put thin strip gorilla tape to secure rings. Have got used to the bigger handle and now I really like the rod. I would not hesitate buying another

I owned that one and the 66 UL model. I liked them at first and I caught a lot of fish with them. But as time went on the reel would not stay locked in and had to use silicone tape to keep it on…which is just adding weight to the rod reducing sensitivity. Did not care for the guide train either. Even discussed that with Jim Duckworth….who used and promoted the rod. He offered to give me one of the many he had but I moved on. I think that was about 10 years ago. As far as sensitivity goes I think there are better rods in the 75 dollar price range….the BnM TCB rod being one. They advertise the blank as IM-6….then they say 40 ton High Modulus Graphite. Of course IM-6 is not an industry standard but that usually equates to 24 ton. I don’t know where the 40 ton graphite is at on the rod but it is not in the blank I can tell you that. The blank is very robust though.

I just bought the TCB combo last week and used it four days this week. The rod is nice but the reel is a little too small for my liking. I’m going to put a bigger diameter spool reel on it. I don’t like when line gets wrapped under those ultralight spools as this one does. All in all, it’s a nice setup.

Never tried the 7' PowerLite .... but, I have used the 5'6" UL , the 6'6" PowerLite, and the 9' PowerJig.

I used the UL for years for casting and dock shooting and loved it. Operator error broke it.
I still use the 6'6" PowerLite for my primary casting rod.
I use the 9' PowerJig for times when I use a fixed float setup (for depths < 9').

*Disclaimer Note: All three of these rods were given to me by the VP of Marketing for Norsemen Outdoors, Steven Vogts (inactive member of this site), for Field Testing.

I also have had the 5'6" UL since they came out. Use for casting a wide weight range of lures with no issues and is one tough little rod. I like the slightly larger diameter handle and have never had a reel move in the graphite rings, although I have always matched it with older (60'-70's) UL reels. There are many excellent rod choices out there today but has to be a good fit for the person fishing it and how they fish.
