Come winter I’m pulling crappie…and Gills from 23 feet. I have a buddy who fishes J P Preist and he regularly limits out on big slabs vertical jigging……in the dead of winter….52 feet deep. This is all going to depend…as has been said….on which body of water you are on.

    Regards

I have winched them out of 50 feet, and also caught them in 15 feet in the dead of winter. Sometimes on the same lake.

There are no absolutes, fish go where they're most comfortable, but generally speaking I will be fishing 20-30ft down in my homes lakes in the winter time.

I dont change my fishing pattern. Of the 4 lakes I go to, i hit the same spots every time. Alternating catches from trip to trip, not season to season.

I have 20-30 piles on each lake. Just make the rounds. Whatever I have after all that spots is what goes home. Fish the same year round.
