With LEDs amp draw is so minimal it isn't much of a concern. I use a 16 foot strip of LEDs to light the chicken coop in the mornings. Amp draw is around 1 amp for the whole string. I put a larger output LED bulb in my stern light. It is about 4 foot above the deck. It gives enough light to see the decks of the boat. But not enough light for tying lines and such. If you are under a bridge where it will reflect back down on the boat if gives more light. They make battery operated task lighting that lasts a very long time. I have a Dewalt 20v very bright led light that will last 8 hours on the brightest setting. I use it over the side of the boat as a fish attracting light.
