    Default fishing for ideas

I'm pondering how I might add overhead lighting in pan fishing boat. Tracker 170. I like to fish all night long. Are there any products already designed, or ideas on how to build LED lights elevated. I thought in running light sockets. Concern is amperage draw on batteries?

With LEDs amp draw is so minimal it isn't much of a concern. I use a 16 foot strip of LEDs to light the chicken coop in the mornings. Amp draw is around 1 amp for the whole string. I put a larger output LED bulb in my stern light. It is about 4 foot above the deck. It gives enough light to see the decks of the boat. But not enough light for tying lines and such. If you are under a bridge where it will reflect back down on the boat if gives more light. They make battery operated task lighting that lasts a very long time. I have a Dewalt 20v very bright led light that will last 8 hours on the brightest setting. I use it over the side of the boat as a fish attracting light. Name: 20210724_192829.jpg

Lots of light reflecting back up off the water.

Here is what I used on my previous pontoon. I will probably hook them up on the new one as well. Cost $40 for the pair on Amazon.

Thanks. Love the Dewalt. I've placed a strip of LED tape to pvc, 10-foot long. Hang it over side, suspended above water. can move to either side of boat. Low draw

The strips on pvc are what I use in the chicken house. Wakes those lazy birds up and gets them moving in the mornings. I can unclamp the light mount and move it to either side.

A buddy of mine has a 10ft pole with two small LED light pods like these on the top. Best thing ever for night fishing if the bugs aren't too bad, it will light up the whole area like a stadium. He fastens it to the rod rack that he has across the back of his boat.

The pole is steel, likely conduit. PVC would work as well.

At 3 amps, you would get many hours out of a decent size battery.
