    Default Long handled net

Was blessed to find some hungry crappie a couple of days ago. Netted 15 with a short handled net and was fishing with slip bobber on 11’ rod. Had some trouble due to limited quarters and lost 5 I could not get closer to the boat. Can someone chime in on benefits or issues with a long handled net?

I fish usually by my self. Landing a fish is difficult when handling a 16 foot rod. I had a EGO 2 but the weight of it was hard to handle with one hand. I am now using a Jenco BIG T. I love it nice telescoping handle strong, the net don't keep hooks hung up. It has a bend at the front that helps to scoop up fish.

Am I mistaken or did you get the Prox 300 net. If so did it not work out…

No sir, I had a standard net from Walmart. Works very well if I get the fish close to the boat.

A light weight long handle with a PVC net will make fishing way more enjoyable. Many good options. I started with an ego reach. The net wore out and I modified it to hold a rubber ghost net. The handle quit sliding so I modified the net bracket to hold a expanding paint roller handle.

I ran for the long handled net the other day when my wife was in a fight to the finish with some behemoth down under .
the net did us NO GOOD , the fish just didn't want to cooperate for the photo shoot and promptly snapped her line as I approached .
Now mind you this, some fish are smarter than others and it likely saw me coming and thunk this just ain't gunna end well if I don't get out of dodge NOW ! ......
