Lund for me. Another thing...when you have a fish, you can quickly whip it over the gunnel. no one can really tell what your doing.

My next boat is going to be a deep-V model. I'm a single pole guy who fishes from the front deck. Hitting a log with my trolling motor while standing on the deck has caused many close calls. It will only get worse as I get older.

I am 61 and have Lund deep V 17' full windshield, 2nd Lund I have owned. If you can afford I would like an 18-20'. 17 is a little tight with 3 old fat guys. Buddy has a Crestliner and it's also a good boat

deep v rides well in the waves for sure and trolls best too ...
if I had any plans to troll and wanted a boat ,it would likely be something in the Lund type of watercraft .

Deep vee console seats set up higher so your legs and feet are straight down. Most other boats your feet and legs are straight out in front and is a little harder to get up. I like driving from a pedestal seat however you lose some storage room. Getting in and out of a deep vee is OK if you have a dock. But from the bank or sandbar, that's a big step for older people. I think there needs to be a hybrid between a deep vee and a bass rig. The only one that come close in my mind is a tracker tf175, because those seats appear to be a little higher and the front deck is lower.

I used to crappie fish in a bass boat, and now crappie fish in a deep v boat (both fiberglass, so not exactly the same as you are talking about). The only drawback I can tell from a deep v is it's heavier to tow

other than that it (deep v) has a front deck very similar to a bass boat but higher sides (safer). For long line trolling they both are great but the deep v is again safer. Deep v you are IN the boat, bass boat you are ON the boat

as far as pointing towards retirement and fishing a lot, I would for sure get a 4 stroke motor above all else. The fuel savings are very noticeable
