Default Ever had one of those days ?

Been a week and still trying to get over last outing ! Got new boat back in late April so was time to change oil , no big deal went to closest dealer and got new filter and two gal of oil ( 150 mercy XS 4 Stroke ) Drained , changed easy pesy ready for next day !

Hooked up next morning headed to ramp ( live on lake so only 10 min drive ) , put in boat pulled truck up ramp parked got in boat ... READY for relaxing day of fishing WRONG ! Idled 50 yards from ramp BEPPPPPPP! WTH ? Motor alarm going off ????? Walked back to motor and looked like the Exxon Valdez had crashed into the back of my boat OIL EVERYWHERE on the water !?!?!? SOOOOO trolling motored back to ramp got boat back on trailer , top of the hill parked and assessed what was the problem . After several inspections and one RE Tighting of the oil filter ( could have sworn I hand tightened than filter ) figured out the problem . SOOOOO headed up the road to another marine dealer and bought ANOTHER 2 gal of oil ( 80 bucks ) filled and back to ramp !

Put boat in , pulled truck to top of the hill , got in boat ready for relaxing day of fishing ! So take 2 motor its running fine get to spot I want to fish , shut down 200 yard from tree line I want to fish IDLING in when local guide come roosterdogging in right in front of me , stops and starts fishing ! Ok no big deal big lake next spot , SOOOOO next spot not to far away pulled up , no-one there drop trolling motor pull up to first tree LOTS of fish on scope , drop down BAM ! first fish of the morning GREAT !!!! Walk back to livewell ready to drop fish in AND almost knocked off my feel with the smell !!!! Evidently the last time I fished I missed one fish !!!! Magnets the size earth worms by the hundreds ( would say by the millions but that would be exzagerating ) SOOO kicked on live well pump grabbed minnow net and proceeded to dip out the reminisce of what was overlooked last trip and the magnet that saw fit to brake it all down !!! Ten min of gagging was back in business , clean livewell , clean water back to fishing ready for relaxing day fishing !

Fished the rest of the afternoon caught lots of small fish , ended up with dozen keepers which ended up throwing back , no big deal have lot of fish in freezer ! Get back to boat ramp but boat on trailer pull up ramp ready to strap down to trailer home ! Hook up tie down straps reach for transom saver ?????? nowhere to be found ! Always put transom saver on back deck in font of motor ( Which I did because I remember wiping the oil of of it ) Guess during the day running for spot to spot rough water it bounced out the back ! SOOOOO end of the day 80 dollars for two more gal of Oil , 80 dollars for new transom saver , No fish I kept and a still very smelly livewell !

well be back at it again soon , Addicted to the THUMP

Yep I've had trips like that! Fish a Thursday evening tourney, bass not crappie, and put the net in boat at home and secured it or so I thought. no net at lake, oh well no big deal. Then partner backs me in water. Minutes later bilge pumps kick on---that's right no plug. Got that cleared up. Didn't take lifejacket off at all LOL

Made a few casts and got a treble hook caught on seat. Other treble in my back. All in less than 3 hours. Yup I've had a few of those days LOL

Years ago backed a jon boat down inat a sandy ramp. Went to park, came back boat is now on the bottom, didn't put the plug in. Takes a lot of aluminum can fulls of water to float a boat sunk at the ramp. Quick evening fishing trip turned into a 12 oz curls for what seemed like ever. Days can go south really quick
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

Almost sounds like my life....lol. Best you can do is just go with the flow sometimes and not let it bother you. That’s life! Just helps you appreciate those good days even more. Thanks for sharing.

Yea, that was a bad one, (or two) TS. Maybe the new boat gremlins and now you’re done! Enjoy the new ride!
