    Default CrappieMaxx Line any good?

    Hey,

Was at Bass Pro the other day and stumbled upon some CrappieMaxx fishing line……Bought it in 4lb Super Vis over 3,000 yards for $9. I was sitting their scratching my head on that one. But that’s a heck of a bargain if it’s good line…..STREN hi Vis gold is $6 for only 330 yards and that line is considered middle of the road stuff for mono if ya ask me. So how is this crappie maxx line, ya’ll like it? With such a bargain the first thing to come to mind is it’s crap line, but THE ONLY reason I bought it is because Mr. Gene gave its blessing in one of his videos LOL…..so I thought what the heck!

P.S - Is it straight mono or a copolymer like Vicious?

It’s a decent line! I have it on 1 of my spinning reels, but it holds a lot of memory! I will be replacing it soon, but it is decent.

For that price it seems like a good value depending on what type of fishing one was doing

I have used it and like it. Last I knew it was the same as Mr. Crappie.

I consider all mono to have be disposable and short lived, so I just use the cheap stuff and replace it often. Even if you don't have any trouble with loops and twists, UV will weaken it quickly. As soon as it loses its shine, time for a respool.

I tried it. Was too stiff and kept waaay to much memory. I buy 1000yd rolls Trilene XL off Ebay. When it starts kinkn up, I change it out

I used it and found it has a strong memory. Strong enough but too stiff for me to cast with. I use the BPS offshore angler tight lines for years now from 4 to 10 pound and like it much better and the price is comparable.

Have the 4lb. in the camo color purchased a few years ago. Used several times for gills with no issues , but would note that I change out line often and do not catch anywhere close to the #'s as some others. Have used Trilene XL green forever but once in a while I'll spool on some of that Crappie Maxx and have not been disappointed .

I bought a couple of spools when BPS had them on sale. So far they work good and I haven’t had any issues. I think it is a good value for the price and if any problem arises just re-spool fresh line and fish on!

It's about the same as Mr. Crappie line to me. It's not great but it is well worth the price you pay for it.
