road in some sort of big block inboard ( you seen em before with the BIG chrome headers covering the massive motor sticking out the top of it ) short boat one late at night , pretty stupid stuff at some pretty stupid speeds , but it was also a really cute gal that talked me into it , it for sure got air a few times and even though she seemed totally thrilled by it , the tiny hairs on the back a my neck were screaming like a little girl saying WE ARE ALL GUNNA DIE !

You tube had to tease me with a Cummins powered jet boat, rolling coal on the water. As with any of those old jet boats a fella needs to rebuild it himself. I do realize I don't have to time to invest in that

I have ridden in a few watercrafts that have exceeded 50 mph , one bass cat a guide fella had years ago and another guide friend has one VERY similar to it ,seem to cruise well at around 70 , both of them you require goggles or a helmet with face shield to ride in.
and yes both of those rides scare me ..... watching water go by that fast is unnerving to say the least at water level

I used to enjoy it. The Bass boat will do a solid 60 mph, some better in favorable conditions. In open water down a wide deep stretch of the river it doesn't bother me. Closer quarters it gets concerning. 30mph on the water seems to strike a good balance between getting there in reasonable time and being fast enough to blow some of the sweat away on those hot days

25 to 30 ish is me , 40 is about my max to be still somewhat comfortable , beyond that it just ain't my thing.
way to much stuff just under the surface in places it might not have been yesterday
a slight miscalculation or even a small object just under the surface at high speeds might spell a huge disaster .

I was on a bowl shaped 100 acre lake fishing gills. One of them wake boat showed up and the next thing I knew there was a two foot chop on the lake. I think I will start keeping Dramamine in the boat. :-)
I know the lakes are open to all recreation but maybe some common sense should prevail on smaller lakes.
